Post Card black and white print of the Library and Post Office in Sycamore, Illinois A $12,000 grant from library philanthropist Andrew Carnegie was the primary source of funding for the construction of Sycamore Public Library in 1905. Former mayor Frederick B. Townsend donated the land. The striking building, featuring Lake Superior red sandstone and a tile roofed dome, located on the northeast corner of State and Main Streets. An expansion was carefully blended in 1996. |
