Postcard, black and white print of the DeKalb County Courthouse, located at Sycamore, Illinois Contractor William McAlpine was paid $143,897.55. The exterior is Bedford limestone quarried in Indiana and shipped by train and delivered to the construction site using a temporary rail spur. The huge blocks were cut on site, some of which weighed four tons.
