Bicycle, with large metal front wheel and small rear wheel, orange metal frame with black leather seat. This bicycle was first ridden in 1962 by Wally Thurow also known as Mr. Pumpkin in 1962 in the Sycamore, Illinois Pumpkin Festival Parade and used as promotional advertising, sponsored by "Great Bicycle". There is an advertising panel on the front wheel reading "Wally Thurow, Mr Pumpkin" with two Lions Club and Pumpkin Festival Emblems" Mr. Thurow was the founder of Sycamore Pumpkin Festival which started on his home's lawn in 1956. Wally Thurow decided to open his own Bicycle Shop on Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, Illinois. Mr. Thurow owned and operated the Bicycle Shop from 1969-1980 The Sycamore Pumpkin Festival is a fundraising activity for Sycamore, Illinois Lions Club and a variety of local schools and service clubs. |
