Model depicts Emma Lazarus in period clothing. Ms.Lazarus was a successful poet in New York City, New York. Ms. Lazarus wrote poems of her Jewish identity. Lines from her sonnet, "The New Colossus" are engraved on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. Ms. Lazarus was born in 1849 and died in 1887. Dolls for Democracy Program donated from Congregation Beth Shalom DeKalb, Illinois. Made by Cecil Weeks of Independence, Missouri. |
